A monthly active user (MAU) is any end user who authenticates at least once in a calendar month. Team members (your own staff managing Canopy) are counted separately and don't affect your MAU total.
Your existing users are never cut off. As you approach a limit we notify you in Canopy, and we email you once you reach it. On Pro, monthly active users beyond your plan's included total are billed at $0.002 each and invoiced monthly: nothing to do, and no interruption for your users. Enterprise overage is defined by your contract. On Free there is no overage billing: your users keep signing in, but once usage runs well past the included 5,000 we pause new sign-ups until you upgrade. Monthly active API keys work the same way: your existing keys keep authenticating, and once you reach the allowance you cannot create new ones until the next calendar month or an upgrade.
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing; downgrades apply at the end of your current billing cycle. Your hierarchy, roles, and identities are preserved across any plan change.
Yes. Annual billing on the Pro plan is $1,089 per year, roughly one month free versus paying monthly. Enterprise contracts are billed annually with volume-based pricing.
